Health & Fitness
Aerobics
Experts agree that the best way to maintain their health is with a program of consistent exercise. Step, fitness walking, and dance aerobics are combined in a class for the active older adult. Additional strength training with weights and elastic resistance helps build bone density, and provides stretch/ stress release for the joints.

Modern competitive clogging, which is inspired by traditional styles, is performed to a wide variety of music, including bluegrass, modern country, rock music, pop, and hip hop. Low Impact Exercise
Low impact exercise is often used in conjunction with the words gentle, easy or light and is often recommended for people who don’t want a high intensity workout. While it’s important to have some type of impact in your workouts for healthy bones, you don’t necessarily have to jump around to get an intense workout. Many low impact exercises (which is when one foot is always in contact with the ground) can get your heart rate into your target heart rate zone.

Stretching
There is a term in physiology called “creep.” It refers to the constant shrinkage of tendons and ligaments. So STRETCH! It’s the only way to beat the creep! If you spend a lot of time in front of your monitor, then you really need to get up and stretch for at least five minutes each hour. But if you can’t, the Senior Center offers this low-impact stretching class. Come prepared to work!
